Photographer Irene Peña collaborated with Costa Rican fashion designer Dunia Barley and conceptual musician Otto Castro to create this collection photographed on location in San Jose & Limon, Costa Rica. The concept was to show how the colors, sounds, images and textures of San Jose and Limon could intersect and inspire the design of Costa Rican women's fashion. The images show the clothing collection while creating a contrast with other women next to the model in the streets.
By showing the people filling the streets, it is easy to see how San Jose is visually chaotic and develop a sense for the local fashion. Shot entirely with analog cameras, several series comprise this collection entitled "Intersecciones" (Intersections). It was presented as a show with large format prints, fashion design, and music at the Galeria Roberto Sasso (part of the Universidad Veritas in San Jose) September 2008.
Irene Peña is a fashion and lifestyle photographer currently based out of Costa Rica. Her artistic background includes graphic design, painting, and advertising photography with an art degree from Santa Monica College.
